In a democracy, the army obeys the civilian government

I just watched NHK 's program about the Navy officer who leaked the videos.

Seems to me everybody is having the wrong discussion. The question is really very simple : does the Army, and Navy, obey the civilian power or not ?

If they don't, they should be court martialed, period.

Have they learned nothing about Japan"s pre-war history ? About what happens when individual army personnel decide on their own what is good for the country ? And what about the mass media ? Pretending an army officer is just Joe Citizen ?

We all know where that sort of thing led Japan in the 30s and 40s. Don't they realize where that could lead, even now ?
